I am long overdue for an update. The last race was the 128 mile Open Range Gravel race. I still need to write up a full story on that but I will just say it was absolutely spectacular. I will also say it was hard, likely the hardest long effort I have ever done. I finished the 128 miles in just over 10 hours. When I was done I said I wasn’t ready to ride nearly 3x the distance at Unbound.

Here I am just a month later and I have decided JUST GO FOR IT!!!!

Tomorrow at 3pm I will be on the starting line for the Unbound XL. This will be 356 of rough Kansas back roads, weather looks a bit dismal and this race even on a good year typically sees only around 50% of the entrants make it to the finish.

Am I ready for this? Probably not.

Am I in a bit over my head? Certainly.

Am I excited for the challenge? Absolutely!!!!
