At the beginning of each year I set a few goals that I want to accomplish. Not new years resolutions (those rarely get kept) but goals. One of those goals was to complete a 300+ mile bike race. I had already signed up for the Unbound XL 350 mile race but I set the goal at 300+ instead of 350 because that gave me a second chance.

Today is that second chance to finish 300+. I am doing the Gravel Worlds “Long Voyage” 300 mile race in Lincoln Nebraska. I am better prepared physically and have the experience of at least attempting the distance once before. The weather while not perfect (going to be hot and still a chance of a few thunderstorms) looks like it will be better than it was a couple months ago at Unbound.

For those that want to follow along in real time the live tracking page is at Trackleaders which will show you the full race with everyone or you can see just my location at this link.

There will also be a livestream of the finish line on YouTube.

I made a rough guess at what time I will hit each resupply location. We will see how close to that schedule I am able to stay.

My goal is to finish the 304 miles in under 27 hours and 14 minutes. That may sound like an odd goal but that is when sunset is on Saturday. I took a rough guess at how fast I think I can ride each section of the course (wild guess) and also roughly how much time I plan on spending at each stop and made a schedule. Who knows if this will be accurate but it is nice to have a rough idea ahead of time to get my head in the right space.
